Whilst processing prism projects it came to our notice how those very traditional reduced aperture prism trial rims (See Blue Trial Rim Picture, photo 4) had been overtaken in design terms by a new injection moulded castellated rim model. This has the distinct advantage of enabling considerably higher levels of dexterity to prevail during handling especially when rotating around a ring holder trial frame. Its series of plastic protrusions, or castellations around its rim aids this (See White Trial Rim Picture, photo 2 and 3). This standard diameter reduced aperture ring 35mm holds a rectangular prism 20x25mm with powers marked (twice) and arrowhead print for apex and dot for base directions.
